Paseo Maritimo´s new project (which began on the 18th of November 2022 and will last 20 months) will close partly the traffic with green areas replacing the tarmac. It will create a spatial interaction between the port and the city and minimise the occupation of public space by road traffic. In addition, it will generate free spaces linked to pedestrian use, and will promote public transport, improving mobility in general. It will reduce the current three and four lanes in each direction, depending on the sections, to two lanes in each direction. The number of pedestrian crossings will also be significantly increased, from the current twelve to the twenty-six planned in the project.

The project also includes stairs, ramps and handrails to improve the promenade’s connectivity with the neighbourhoods of Es Jonquet and El Terreno. Similarly, abundant flowerbeds will be built (36,487 square metres) and approximately 2,000 new trees will be planted, which will be irrigated with a new rainwater harvesting system. The pavements close to the facades of the buildings, which are now between two and a half and five metres wide, will become between five and ten metres wide.

The reconstruction of this avenue will make it one of the most beautiful avenues in Europe, and a green model in the heart of a city.

Porto Pi shopping mall, also with its new movie theatre, is just a few minutes away walking distance.
